RESEARCH OPERATIONAL UNITS

Seismicity Monitoring Unit

The Seismicity Monitoring Unit of the Insitute of Geodynamics is responsible for the continuous monitoring of the seismicity in the wider Greek area, in the area extending from 34deg to 42deg N and from 19deg to 30th E. Its main tasks are the recording, collection and processing of the various seismological – geophysical parameters.

The unit operates on a daily 24 hour basis (24/7), 365 days a year. The analysis and assessment of the seismic activity is fulfilled by the institute’s research and scientific staff. The unit performs the critical mission of  the dissemination of the relevant information, on a 24-hour basis, to state bodies such as the General Secretariat for Civil Protection, the Earthquake Planning and Protection Organization, and to the public.

More information can be found on the website of the Institute of Geodynamics here.
