Mr Giannis Sgouros, the head of the Attica prefecture signed the decision for funding the construction of a new 2.500 square meters building for the Geodynamics Institute of NOA at Penteli. The long procedure for obtaining this much awaited funding, took years of persistent and systematic efforts by the President of NOA, Professor Kanaris Tsinganos and his staff. The importance of this historical event is evident for NOA and the Attica region and cannot be overemphasized. It is noteworthy that so far, the GI has been housed in quite old and earthquake damaged buildings at Thission, supplemented by several Isoboxes. Hence, this event has a wider national and international impact as the GI is responsible for following the seismic activity of the country, which is the most active one in the European area.
