The Researcher's Night, the largest pan-European celebration of science and research, is held, on Friday 27/09/2013, at the National Centre for Scientific Research "Demokritos" (NCSR "Demokritos") at 18:00 to midnight, along with other academic centers in about 300 cities in Europe. It includes many events, and gives the opportunity to the public to contact researchers and learn about scientific work and social contribution.
In Greece, the National Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), NCSR "Demokritos" (coordinator), the Foundation for Research & Technology Hellas (FORTH), University of Thessaly, University of Patras and NOESIS all join forces to organize a special evening in five different cities, with a common axis being viewing research achievements and highlighting the people behind them.
In Athens, NCSR "Demokritos" opens its doors to all people and with the participation of several research institutions and organizations (National Research Foundation, National Observatory of Athens, Greek Centre for Marine Research, Greek Atomic Energy Commission Greek Pasteur Institute, British Council, Foundation of the Hellenic World, etc.) invites the public to a tour to the unknown world of the researcher, the basic lines of scientific work in the form of lectures, discussions, presentations, interactive games, scientific and artistic events.
