National Observatory of Athens (NOA) was recognized by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) among other 60 centennial stations worldwide, for its uninterrupted operation spanning more than 100 years and collection of reliable meteorological observations. More information can be found here.
The historical climatic station of NOA has been permanently established at Thission site (in the centre of Athens) since the late 19th century. This is the oldest climatic station in Greece and of the oldest in the Eastern Mediterranean. The historical climatic records of NOA constitute a unique source of information for the study of climate and climate change in the area.
