“Asteroid Day 2017" at Kryoneri Observatory

The National Observatory of Athens and the Cultural Society of Youth in Kryoneri are hosting a public event for Asteroid Day 2017 on Friday, June 30 at Kryoneri Observatory. Starting at 8pm, visitors will be given a tour of the Observatory where they will learn about the telescope. At 9:15pm there will be a presentation on the danger posed by near-earth asteroids, as well as the new research program NELIOTA. Visitors will also have the opportunity to view the Moon, planets and other celestial ob [ ... ]

The rift of Corinth (Greece) has been long identified as a site of major importance in Europe due to its intense tectonic activity. Ιτ is one of the world’s most rapidly extending continental regions and it has one of the highest seismicity rates in the Euro-Mediterranean region. The western termination of the rift in the Patras broader area presents a major scientific and socio-economic importance, with many faults located inside and close to the city of Patras.
